Further Analysis of Stellar Magnetic Cycle Periods

چکیده

We further investigate relationships between activity cycle periods in cool stars and rotation to include new cycle data, and explore different parameterizations of the problem. We find that relations between cycle and rotational frequencies (ωcyc vs. Ω) and between their ratio and the inverse Rossby number (ωcyc/Ω vs. Ro −1) show many similarities, including three branches and similar rms scatter. We briefly discuss some implications for dynamo models.

Stellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups

It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...

Magnetic field escape from a stellar convection zone and the dynamo-cycle period

Traditionally, dynamo theories have predicted periods for stellar activity cycles that are much shorter than is observed. We argue that this problem can be solved by allowing for the non-free escape of magnetic fields through the surface boundary. New boundary conditions are suggested that largely reduce magnetic flux escape from the dynamo region compared to the traditional vacuum conditions. ...

Study of Solar Magnetic and Gravitational Energies Through the Virial Theorem

Virial theorem is important for understanding stellar structures. It produces an interesting connection between magnetic and gravitational energies. Using the general form of the virial theorem including the magnetic field (toroidal magnetic field), we may explain the solar dynamo model in relation to variations of the magnetic and gravitational energies. We emphasize the role of the gravitatio...

The stellar wind cycles and planetary radio emission of the τ Boo system

τ Boo is an intriguing planet-host star that is believed to undergo magnetic cycles similar to the Sun, but with a duration that is about one order of magnitude smaller than that of the solar cycle. With the use of observationally derived surface magnetic field maps, we simulate the magnetic stellar wind of τ Boo by means of three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics numerical simulations. As the p...

MEDIAN NERVE STIMULATION PO TENTIATES THE MU SCLE RESPONSES TO TRANS C RANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION

Motor responses evoked by transcranial magnetic stimulation OMS) or transcranial electrical stimulation (TCS) can be facilitated by a prior conditioning stimulus to an afferent nerve. Two facilitation periods are described short (SI), when the nerve stimulus is given near 0 to 10 ms after cranial stimulation, and long (LI), when nerve stimulation is given 25-60 ms before the cranial stimula...
